Delete your Capobook account

Last updated

The short version. You can delete your Capobook account in the app, or by emailing us. We delete your account, your band memberships, the bands you own, and the set links and live sessions you started. We keep only the purchase records that tax law requires. Deleting your account doesn't delete the songs on your devices or in your own iCloud or Google Drive, and it doesn't cancel a subscription.

You only have a Capobook account if you signed in, with Apple, Google or an email link. If you never signed in, there's no account to delete: your songs live only on your device (see your songs below).

Delete it in the app

  1. Open Capobook and sign in with the account you want to delete.
  2. Go to You › Sync & account.
  3. Tap Delete account and confirm. Your account is deleted straight away.

Or ask us by email

Write to privacy@capobook.com with the subject "Delete my account", from the email address of your Capobook account. If you signed in with Apple and hid your email address, write from the Apple ID email instead, and we'll find the account. We may ask you to confirm the request, so that nobody else can delete your account. We delete it within 30 days, and tell you when it's done.

Before you delete

  • Subscriptions. Deleting your account doesn't cancel a Band subscription, wherever you bought it: the App Store, Google Play or our website. Cancel it first (how to cancel). If you delete your account by email, we cancel a subscription bought on our website for you.
  • Bands you own. Deleting your account deletes the bands you own, for everyone in them. To keep a band going, make another member the owner first, or ask us to.
  • Pro. Pro bought in the App Store or Google Play stays with your store account. You can restore it later with "Restore purchase", with or without a new Capobook account.

What we delete

  • Your account: email address, name, user ID and sign-in details
  • Your membership of every band, and your name in those bands
  • The bands you own, with their libraries and sets
  • The set links and live sessions you started
  • Your customer record at RevenueCat, our purchase provider, apart from the records below

What we keep, and for how long

What Why How long
Purchase and invoice records Tax and accounting law Up to 7 years
Emails you sent us To answer questions and handle disputes Up to 3 years after the conversation ends
Copies in backups Backups are rolling Our database backups within 35 days; Google's backups of sign-in accounts within 180 days
Usage counts and crash reports They aren't linked to your account Up to one year, and up to 90 days

Songs you added to the library of a band you don't own stay with that band, no longer linked to you. If you own the band, it's deleted with everything in it.

Your songs

Your songs live on your devices and, if you synced, in your own cloud, not with us. To remove them as well:

  • On a device: You › Help & about › Advanced › Delete the whole library, or delete the app. In a browser, clear the site data for capobook.com.
  • iCloud: on an iPhone or iPad, Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage (or Storage) › Capobook › Delete Data.
  • Google Drive: in Google Drive on the web, Settings › Manage apps › Capobook › Options › Delete hidden app data. Then remove Capobook's access at myaccount.google.com › Security › Your connections to third-party apps & services.
